A city-wide plan to connect people in every neighborhood to Boston’s greenway network by installing new paths, bike facilities, and safer road crossings.
For over a century, people of all ages and backgrounds have come together to walk, stroll, ride a bike, and experience nature along paths in historic linear parks within the Emerald Necklace and the Charles River Reservation. Newer parks such as the Southwest Corridor Park, the East Boston Greenway, and the Neponset River Greenway have continued this legacy by extending access to scenic natural environments to neighborhoods throughout the City.
Boston Green Links is an initiative by the city to take a comprehensive look at the existing greenway network and proposed plans, identify gaps in the plans, and seek input on projects — new paths, new bike facilities, better crosswalks — to better connect people to the network. The vision is for a connected network of paths and low stress corridors that people of all ages and abilities can use to navigate the city, safely, sustainably and enjoyably, on foot, by bike, or in a wheelchair, from every neighborhood in Boston.
NBBJ provided the spatial analysis, community engagement, and planning recommendations for this important project at the intersection of transportation, landscape, and community.
