Urban Design in Action

Founded in 2000, the Nashville Civic Design Center (NCDC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to elevate the quality of Nashville's built environment and to promote public participation in the creation of a more beautiful and functional city for all.

This pocket-sized brochure was designed for the Nashville Civic Design Center with the assistance of a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. The tour offers an interactive experience of urban design, highlighting the intersection of individuals and the built environment. The brochure illustrates the Ten Principles of The Plan of Nashville and narrates Nashville’s historic, civic, and cultural streetscapes that make Nashville unique.
