Making Room for STEM

NBBJ’s 2007 Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) Master Plan proposes the linking of three disparate campus facilities through the strategic siting of two new academic wings to create a new central quadrangle. The plan transforms the campus environment and provides much-needed space for the growing science and technology programs at the college. The 2014 Master Plan Update examines QCC’s current programmatic space needs and institutional aspirations, analyzing the physical and spatial implications of each to near and future overall campus development.

A major part of the master plan looked at space utilization of classrooms on the main campus. NBBJ developed a strategy to decrease utilization of classrooms spaces to a more manageable level. The study also examined how and where food service is housed on campus and recommends a move that consolidates student services, providing a "one stop" concept for the campus. The 2014 master plan also updates existing building surveys from 2007.
