In 2017 the University of Puget Sound partnered with NBBJ to conduct a Space Planning & Utilization Study to critically assess the learning and office spaces on campus.
The study effort updated the space inventory of existing academic and administrative indoor space. In addition, NBBJ planners and architects worked in close collaboration with Facilities leadership to determine how these spaces were being used, discover what factors most impacted utilization and identify what improvements might be made to further enhance the teaching and learning experience at Puget Sound. The resulting plan should:
inform decisions regarding near-term and long-range physical
development of the campus;
maximize the appropriate and efficient use of built space;
consider the diverse academic and social needs and interests of the university community; and
address specific key issues facing the university related physical development.
This study was completed in parallel to an extensive Strategic
Planning effort on campus. The results of both the new Strategic Plan and the Space Study are intended to inform the next update of the Campus Master Plan.
